blog #2: baking’s a marathon! part 1 - persistence
Hello, SweetReaders! I wanted to kick off my blog sharing a motivational theory that I thought of. The theory states that every skill is like a marathon. I have a few examples / scenarios to prove my point! 🍪 Today, I’ll be sharing part 1 :)….
Part 1: Persistence
When I started baking, I used to love mixing ingredients and using fun colors to decorate cupcakes - that was my favorite thing to do! I tried to make new recipes, but I wouldn’t write them down. The challenge with that was that sometimes they would come out great, but I didn’t remember the recipe! Other times, they turned out bad, but I wouldn’t be able to figure out what went wrong. That’s when I realized - after YEARS of my mama telling me! ;) - that I really needed to write my recipes down in a notebook! This way, I could build on recipes that worked and try to fix the ones that flopped. At first I would get really frustrated because, honestly, it’s just more fun to put a bunch of things in a mixer and see how it turns out! 😂 But over time I got better at controlling my urge to throw everything into the stand mixer; instead, I would pause, take a deep breath, write things down, and make sure all my steps were recorded in my notebook. This helped me be able to create delicious cupcakes consistently, with the confidence that they would turn out well. Even though it was difficult and slow at first, I persisted and it paid off because now I have a good variety of recipes I’ve developed and can count on!
I learned that, just like in a marathon, you have to be persistent and consistent in your training for it to all pay off in the end!
